ABOUT.png

extended play is a visual EP offering a track list of short video performances as love letters to queer pleasure, fantasy, friendship and care. the performances exist both as a complimentary collection and individual completed works. stemming from their own own love of music and personal music listening rituals, the format of the project seeks to merge already existing ways of presenting creative content to birth new and intimate ways of making and witnessing performance. please peruse the CD booklet for full project credits and names of the angels who helped make this happen.

Stéphanie Cyr is an independent dance artist, tender gender bender and enthusiastic playlist maker. Their creative process includes movement exploration, physical score building, dance, writing, bad singing, archiving, making playlists, drag and filmmaking. The stories they tell are heavily influenced by pop + internet culture from a personal queer perspective. Informed by scale, sci-fi and the everyday, they make dances for objects and bodies while using alternative spaces and materials to explore fluxes of intimacy and perception. They've had the pleasure of working nationally and internationally with imPerfect Dancers Company, Andrea Peña & Artists, Inverso Productions, TWObigsteps collective, Action at a Distance, Future Leisure, David Harvey, Justine A. Chambers, Les Productions Figlio, The Public Swoon, Ne.Sans Opera and Dance and Wen Wei Dance, among others. They've presented work at Sawdust Collector, the Contemporary Art Gallery (Vancouver), Tremors Festival at Rumble Theatre, Shooting Gallery Performance Series #9, Café Concert #38, in peoples' homes and was recently commissioned to create a new digital work for rEvolver Festival. Steph is also a project assistant and program manager at Made in BC - Dance on Tour, supporting artists in BC and Québec in their efforts in networking and presenting their site specific work.

this work was made by settlers on stolen and unceded Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh territory, unceded and stolen Algonquin-Anishinaabe territory and Treaty 6 territory.
